picture her story when she has nobody to talk to about her abuse.
picture her story when she's told it's her fault.
picture her story when people don't believe her story.
picture her story,
because it's the least you can do.

PHS is a feminist arts-based participatory project that offers survivors of sexual violence a platform to share their stories on their own terms through multimedia art.
the project concludes with a two-day event: a protest (mattress walk or ritual) and a silent multimedia exhibit. * i am aware of how gendered and limited the name picture her story is. the use of the word 'her' is intentional to highlight the urgent need to pay attention to women's voices and stories. this project is open to all women, girls, trans and intersex survivors of sexual violence regardless of their preferred pronouns. this project started as my senior thesis (aka division iii) at Hampshire College titled: Picture Her Story: An Arts-Based Participatory Project and Practice-Based Multimodal Research Thesis on Sexual Violence Against Women and Girls. |
